It only takes a little time to take some simple measures to ensure you record good quality audio. Good quality audio means good quality transcripts! Contact us and we can send you our free guidelines on how to record good audio. We can also make recommendations as to digital recording equipment. Audio quality is important. It is impossible to produce clear, meaningful transcripts from poor recordings. Ideally, recordings should be made with quality digital equipment in rooms devoid of fans, electrical equipment and other people. The recorder should be placed closely in front of the speaker. If there are multiple speakers, use a recorder with detachable microphones (these are inexpensive and we can recommend a recorder to you). Audio should never be recorded in cafes, restaurants, parks or other outdoor places. Speakers should be coached not to interrupt, mumble or shuffle papers etc during the recording.
